Love was in the air last week, Love for cake, thanks to a Valentine’s Day themed Cupcake Fundraiser for the British Heart Foundation. Scioban Herrmann Translations Manager at Sports Direct Head office organised the event in aid of the BHF and raised over £400.
On Friday the 10th of February, over 20 people submitted their homemade confections to be judged by 5 of Sports Directs cake connoisseurs. First place winner Amelie Cleret created a trio of delicately flavoured cream filled cupcakes, Tiramisu, Vanilla, and Fresh Strawberry. She won a £50 Sainsbury’s gift card, with second and third place winning £25.
After judging, the cakes were sold off to generate donations for the British Heart Foundation. Scioban who chose the charity also organised hot chocolate to be sold around the office, which was generously donated by one of Sports Direct’s suppliers.
When asked about the day Scioban Herrmann said
“Where there is a whisk there is a way, I want to thank all the staff members who baked these amazing creations after work. This charity is something I feel very strongly about having lost family members to heart complications.”
This is one of many recent charity events organised by the SD Family, with much more on the horizon. One thing is clear at Sports Direct, the team feels that helping others is a piece of cake.
