Welcome to Sports Direct's Jobs News Room

Cally Price’s journey from Casual Sales Assistant to Store Manager.

Cally started working for Sports Direct as a Casual Sales Assistant in our Aberdare store whilst she studied. After finishing her studies she took a short break to consider her options. It was at this time Cally was offered a position as Footwear Supervisor in our Merthyr store. The choice to take this opportunity resulted in Cally's decision to pursue a career in retail.

“I accepted the challenge because I am very passionate about the company, I enjoy the daily pace and love how the company continues to evolve”

Within three months Cally progressed from Footwear Supervisor to Assistant Manager of our Ebbw Vale store. Some great results over the course of twp years resulted in Cally being asked to take an Assistant Managers role in one of the highest turnover stores in her area. A few months after starting at her new store Cally's drive was recognized with an additional promotion to Store Manager.

“The day I was promoted to Store manager was very special. It felt amazing to be acknowledged in this way and I had achieved one of my main goals in retail. I had gone from picking up shifts on the weekend in one of the smallest stores in the company, to managing one of the highest turnover stores in the area, all within 2 and a half years”

Cally has gone from strength to strength at her Cardiff Bay Store and she has also coached her own staff to meet and exceed the standards of the business. Cally has been rewarded with a Five star all expenses paid Ski trip to Verbier in the Swiss Alps, which she says was unlike anything she has ever experienced.

When Cally was asked to comment on opportunities at Sports Direct this is how she replied;

“I would give the same advice to anyone looking at an opportunity with Sports Direct that I give to my staff each day; If you have a strong work ethic and the drive to succeed, the support and rewards you will receive at Sports Direct, are unlike any other retailer.”
